have been after pike for awhile, but want to start coast fishing, haven't done that other that for mackerel.

any advice for this time of year, other that cloths:)

id imagine you could still be good for the odd rogue mack or pollack - they still hit bait on the drop - so i would imagine a take could be expected on lures
will be very slow - prepare to blank - and they will be in deeper so prepare to loose gear

spinning from the shore
Hi
Pollack fishing from the shore improves from late February onwards.
At the moment you should be able to get coalfish for fun and the odd mack in sheltered bay especially over sand. You might hit a bass mind!
I'd leave it a month or two, probably into March for spinning really.

lure for coalfish!
The buggers will take anything including bare silver hooks! If you are looking for a good standard lure, use a small German sprat.
