Im going fishing for bass tonight but there is no surf am i wasting my time

Definitely not. If you're going to use bait, I like to fish light and in close in calm conditions. A 1oz weight, a light rod. After dark, keep the light and noise levels down. It's much more fun catching bass in these conditions on light tackle.

Or as cortaz suggests, get the lures out!

try free lining a launce or small mackerel close in, you could also try plugging. bass love a good patrol in all weather conditions and wont turn down a free meal.
