Waterford Bass Mark 22/8/07

#1 Post by coaster »

People:Me

Duration:2 hours

Tide:Low up

Weather:Bright sunshine

Bait:spinning

Rigs:

Results:lots of mack's and 7 bass

Catch and Release:: Yes/No

Report:Went out today to kill an hour not expecting much due to the bright conditions but how wrong can you be :D

Spent an hour catching macks on a very light setup. Macks were running up onto the beach, driving sprats ahead of them.

I left my tackle bag at one end of the beach and only brought the rod, reel and scales with me. Got to the other end of the beach and landed a bass of 7.48 lbs. :D :D

2 casts later and another of 6 lbs.
Both fish were quickly returned and i RAN back down the beach to get a camera thinking there might be a few more around.

Didn't have a touch for about 15 Min's then 3 bass in 4 casts.
All over 5 lbs.

At this point I was getting worried about getting back to the car as I was almost cut off by the tide and it was getting dark. Packed up the gear and started the long trek back. I had a few chucks ON the way back and picked up another 2 bass.

Got about 40 macs and over 35lbs off bass.
Don't think I will be able to sleep tonight :D 8)

Not that I don't appreciate the help but I don't see how showing me how to blow up casting reels helped on this one :P

Savage mate - god I love this time of year. Waterford has some cracking marks. Are both pics from the same mark..? Just one is sand and the other is rock.

Nothing like that first wollop on light tackle and you know its not a Mack. Sets the heart racing.

As Cortaz said well worth the run for the camera. I dont go fishing without one I can help it. Have been caught out too many times before.

Not a very detailed report, I believe a lot more could have been landed but for the "distractions" on the beach

Hi Eoghan.
The pics were taken about 200 yards apart.

Thanks all for the replies. I have to add that it was down to the fish more than anything that I was doing. I have fished the same area since and had a lot of follows but only 3 hook ups. I know that there are a LOT of bass in that spot but they were just really turned on for feeding that night.
