anyone fished in Thailand?

Im off here for 3 weeks shortly hoping to get some fishing in :D

ill be in bangkok (unfortunate for all accounts but only for 3 days!) then pattaya and on to Koa Samui and Phuket

ill probaly end up buying some gear over there and im hoping theres some charters available for some proper beastie fishing lol


Any Info???

Conger, Codling, Coalfish, Shore Rockling, Dab, Flounder, Dogfish, 3 beard rocking, Pollack, Whiting, Pouting, Red cod, Poor Cod, Tadpole fish, Short and Long splined sea sculpin, TopKnot, Cukcoo Ray,

Targets: fish over 10lb, eel over 20lb (came VERY close almost :( )

Bangkok-Bungsam ran fishing pond-go for giant mekong cat fish,havent been there yet,but know a few friends that did fish there before.Good luck and have fun.

You'll need to do some asking at the Pattaya Sports Club, but find the number for Bua and she'll get you out to sea.

I caught King Mackeral at Phi Phi - it was on an old type Thai boat. Used small baitfish which we caught first, then float fished them with no joy - I tried freelining one and had an instant hit - fish was about 20lb and a local restaurant BBQ it for us.
You only need to book it the night before. The guides are local so speak no english , and the tackle is supplied. It's cheap as chips and is great craic - the boats are roomy and 3 of us fished comfortably.

I think there may be a picture of the fish on the gallery (way way back)
