COD OR codling

was just wondering whats the difference.is it the size or weight that makes them one or the other ?? just wanted to ask this silly little question for ages

they say anything under 6lb is a codling and anything over is a cod !!

Same species which is why i keep saying i've caught 3 cod this year! No need for people to be picky.
