IMO Bass on surface poppers has to be number 1.
For sheer fun, mackerel on the fly rod are great too.

Took the words out of my mouth lumpy, can't beat a good sea trout going mad on the end of your line in the pitch dark. I use a little 8 foot 4wt rod and a 3lbs trout gives you an amazing fight, plus the adrenaline of not being able to see the fish, one minute it's 20 yards downstream of you the next he's tearing upstream and you hear a huge splash as he jumps 10 yards upstream, fantastic stuff! :D

ps where do you get sea trout that size??! Can I come along??? :D :D
Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!

Has to be conger fishing waiting for your ratchet to go off reminds you of jaws then its getting the eel to the surface before it holds ground and even then you still have a chance in landing the eel if your determined and don't give up that's why i like to use 2 rods for conger to double my chances

favorite fish to catch, it has to be the humble coalie as they give you a good scrap on spinning gear or using a float off rocks/pier and if you hook a large one you soon know about it.

I only got 3 in two outings last summer   , so they're long gone

Thing is I've been busy and I'm only starting. So, with a bit of patience and the expert advice here, I'll have a cracking time soon!
