Spinning at night time

#1 Post by burgers »

Any of ye people have any experience of spinning at night time. What lures would work best? Are we talking highly luminous Lures, or would the likes of german sprats etc work?I presume species would be mainly Pollack?

On another note, Do ye people find German Sprats a good lure?

On the contrary, dark/black lures work very well as the silhoutte is strong at night. Also jointed plugs give out a vibration that fish can pick up with their lateral line.

Also the finish on Yo Zuri lures for example would reflect any moonlight. As far as species go, bass, pollock & seatrout are all possible.

German Sprats are a good lure, although I think there are better sandeel imitiations about, the kilty catcher & rapala sliver aswell as plastic baits like shads, jellyeels & redgills

I tried spinning at night with luminous shads, a Yo zuri with a luminous insert, another floating diver with luminous stripes, plus other lures. Never caught a thing...but then I've caught nothing plenty of times in daylight too :D

thanks for all the replies people! And if anyone else has anything to add feel free. What other lures do people reccommend?are the Yozuri Mag Popper and the Storm Saltwater Chug Bugs aswell as the Kilty Catcher all good lures? If I was a fish I'd go for them!!

I use black storm chug bugs at night or in heavy dusk for bass and have found them very successful this year, don't know whether it's after dusk or not but the general stamp of fish that fall to these poppers seems to be really good, no fish that fell to this method this year was under four
