Many Say that Frozen Sandeels Actually Outfish Fresh Ones on certain occasions.
If You Want to have a go at catching them I believe there is a Tool on the Market for Scraping them out of the sand, But I think its more trouble than they're worth. :?

2 quid for a pack of ten/twelve or god knows how many hours raking through sand with a glorified breadknife for the same..... Unless you need live bait, just buy them, majority of brands are blast frozen very quickly so should be in good nick.
