How long is a piece of string :) it depends on what style you use, your stature,what you intend to use the rod for, Remember it's you that actually gets the distance not the rod, that just helps a bit ;) a good style and a rod that suits you and your style is much better than getting an ultra stiff casting rod just because Andrew Gormley or big Danny cast 300 yards with a 14 foot plus telegraph pole :)

0r a steel support girder, some of them rods are pure pigs :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: ya definitely need to be a beast to cast them :twisted: :twisted: :mrgreen:

Like Sod said mate, all depends on a number of converging dynamics.

The general rule is;

low reel-13-14 foot

high reel 12-13 foot

Rod choice would depend on what your distance casting is for, fishing or purely casting, technique used and or aimed for and current casting ability.
only reel men cast!
