I haven't stopped thinking about that tope you got all week. i've decided i have to try get me one. where in wicklow is worth trying? I know you can get them from carlinngford to rosslare but i'd like to narrow that search down a bit ;) i get the impression i could go a good few nights with nothing before i even get a bite but i think its worth the wait.

if you're out again soon could i come along? This is now top of my bucket list ;)
Greystones south to Wicklow beach you will get them the best month to fish is October
If you can fish with a buddy to land the tope for you

Do you need to have an extra long cast to get your bait out for the tope and also what baits are you using, mackeral tail /head? - ive caught alot of tope from boats but never from the shore so I think ill be giving this a try soon

You can catch them at 20 yards out and use a whole Mack it helps keep the dogs of your hook

I had a decent smooth hound take my mack. my heart skipped a few beats until i realised it wasn't stripping much line. still its a good start. 2 hours so far, i'd say it will be another 20 sessions like that and i might just get one
