newcastle 2.8

#1 Post by paul skelly »

People:me

Duration:9pm-12pm

Tide:rising

Weather:nice

Bait:mac and crab

Rigs:7/0 pully and mini flapper

Results:weever,whiting and my first tope

after a bad day at work were everything went wrong all day i was in two minds about getting out for a few hour, checked the weather and tides and decided id go for it.
I was planning on going to graystones but ended up going to newcastle instead witch work out great :)
so i got there and set up for 9pm no sign of weed happy days,i set up two rods one for tope and a little spining rod for scratching.
straight away on the small rod i was getting small whiting about 20cm then i got what i thought was a whiting at a quick glance and very nearly grabbed a small weever fish
after about 40 mins some chap and his kids walked down to me asking was there any macs about,i replyed with ye on the end of my hook
just than i seen the big rod wobble at the corner of my eye and wasn't sure if i had knocked it or not,a sec later and the rod doubled over and line started stripping of the reel
my god what a fight at tines i thought i was going to loose him,he made about 5 mad runs,so after the fight of my life i laded him
my first tope 22lb a few pics later and he went back still strong.
needless to say the scratching went out the window and i focused on the tope but no more showed packed up at 20.30am as it was a school night.
here's a pic or 3
