Hi folks,
Catching the same wrasse is a near certainty if you fish the exact site at an interval. Your veteran/scar and size comments would hint this is the territorial male. This is the only Wrasse of that size and ilk in this area. All others are hareem member females with a smaller hierachial size range. When your champion fella dies or is not returned, one of the females turns male and undergos a significant size gain to take over as such. Think they are all born female. His job would be construction and upkeep of a nest and defence of the realm...

Wow  how did you know it was the same conger?
His lower jaw was split and had a missing fin he was a real veteran
Caught the same conger twice on the one session! only way I knew was the first time the snood went ten yards from the shore and the "second" eel I landed had a familiar trace stuck in his lip.

I dont know if Iv had the same fish but during the summer I hit a fish and as I was taking him in the guy beside me hit one too.We were both saying how strange the fight was untill we got it in.A cod about 3lbs had taken both our baits. Both were well hooked so it hadnt crossed lines and the bait ran down on to its mouth.

Wrasse are territorial which may explain it but they also shoal in similarly sized and sexed fish, so its not unlikely that you would catch fish that look identical or catch the same fish twice.

In most competitions you will find that fish will be released well away from the anglers in order to stop the guy on the next peg picking up your freshly released fish!

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

Caught the same wrasse twice in the same session. Unhooked one about 2lbs which left a small hole in the side of its mouth; half an hour later caught it again, same size same hole...
The 'scar' on the tail fin looks like a scale which has probably been dislodged from elsewhere and rubbed onto the tail whilst you snapped him.

Hi Dickyfish, I thought that too about the scale on the tail. I see what you mean about the conservation message  they are an amazing fish! :)
