Well done on your first bass on a lure - a fine one for your first.
Tip: If you get snagged dont pull, release plenty of slack, and wait for a few minutes, there is a good chance the wave action will free the lure, particularly if waves are breaking over the area where you are snagged.

Well done ray, fine fish you got there, I'd say you were delighted. much better sport from the lures alright. Pity about the lost lures, Do a search on lure retrievers, lots of different ones out there, never used one before but they might be worth getting, especially if you are shedding out 15 yoyo's a pop.
Species 2012:

Cod, Whiting, flounder, coalfish, bass, pollack, sea trout, poor cod, pouting, dogfish, sea scorpion, 3 bearded rockling, blonde ray, painted ray, turbot.
