People: Me and Robin

Duration: 8.30pm - 11pm

Tide: High, Dropping

Weather: Northerly, Dry, Cold.

Bait: Mack, Squid, Sandeel

Rigs: Scratching

Results: 8 Coalies, Maybe 15 Codling to 1/2lb, A Few Pollack, and a Sea Socrpian for Robin.

Report: 9 Anglers on the Pier tonight, we all seemed to be getting the same results, with Small Codling and Coalies in after that Northerly blow last night, Fished the Wee Rod down the side producing plenty of Coalies and Codling, Great fun. I think the Pier just needed that wee Northerly for a day or so.
2015 Lure: Pollack, Herring, Whiting, Sand Goby, Poor Cod, Pouting

42 Species to beat 2011 & 2014

Saturday 11th Feb

#118 Post by donley »

There was three of us fishing on the pier on Saturday 11th Feb. We fished up to and just after high tide. At the start of the night the wind was strong, but the bites were stronger. An hour before the high tide the wind died. It was a great night fishing with over 40 fish between us all/
We caught six species during the time we were there;
codling and pollock to 1lb
small coalfish and a couple of rockling.
I also managed to catch something I never seen before, it was pure silver with see through fins and the body shape was like a pouting, but longer ? any ideas ?

the fish all seemed to be between the two piers in the mouth of the harbour, with only a couple of fish on the outside.

Hey K2. You didn't mention the serious lesson in pier angling you got. Thanks for the positive rockling comments though ... your night's never complete without a rockling!!
