windy west waterford 7/10/10

#1 Post by seanie35 »

People:me

Duration:6 till 9pm

Tide:dropping

Weather:45km southerlys

Bait:peeler

Rigs:pennel 4/0

Results:2 bass, 6 codling,3 coalies, 1 doggie, 1 possible bull huss

Report:drove to the beach i planned to fish to see waves you wouldnt put the guinness surfers out in so jibbed out, plan b headed to a pier the other side of the bay for a spot of lazy fishing. few late season mackie bashers about only 3 macks to show for their troubles. first cast nice codling about 2lb :D :D knew then it would be good fishing dusk came with a good solid bite bass about 3lb . this stage i was surrounded with questions flying my best description of how to peel a crab was "like peeling an orange  ". another cracking bite yielded a bass about 5lb some haul up the side of the pier  . i converted a mackie basher to bait fishing and soon he was pulling in nice size codling(4) up to 2.5lb on an amazing 1 piece of mashed peeler that lasted nearly half an hour whilst i hit a doggie then what i think was a huss i.d. please got first doggie scrape in years off it if its not a huss it was some lsd mustve weighted 4lb or more. bites continued untill bait ran out got a few coalis and more codling, there was a huge swell rolling past the pier every few minutes good nights fishing :D 8)

Well done Seanie mate, another good session and great results again for you. Nice bass. The codling aren't bad either :D It's always good to get out for a couple of hours of peace and quiet and it's even better when you catch a few fish for your efforts. At least there was no weed about to annoy you this time. By the sounds of things and from what you say about what the conditions where like at the beach where you had originally intended on fishing you made the right move by changing venues and going to the pier instead where it was more sheltered away from the wind and calmer. Great report and pictures.

Well done Seanie, I was thinking of heading out myself last night to probably the same beach you attempted to fish - from the sound of it I am glad I didn't - I wouldn't have thought of the pier!!
