Bait: Mackerel, Sandeel, Squid, Mussel
Rigs: 2-Hook Flappers
Results: Wrasse
Report:
Took a mad notion today and headed out to see if I remembered how to catch fish
Lobbed a 2-hook flapper with lug and mussel onto one of the sandy bits. The only action for the 1st hour or so was the non-stop rain
Varied the baits a bit to see if I could tempt anything else. Mackerel, lug, sandeel & squid all came back untouched
The wind picked up and the weed started to drift in. Decided to use up the last few mussels and out went the flapper again to a different patch. I was just packing up various bits and pieces when zippy got another rattle. Grabbed the rod and applied pressure. Another wrasse. Steered him through the maze of weed and safely landed
With the amount of weed now around, I didn’t fancy my chances of landing any more fish, so packed-up and headed for home. No flatties, but happy-out with a couple of wrasse. Always nice not to blank on a new mark
