Report:
After work on Saturday we decided to try a few casts as we haven’t been able to fish the mark due to large swells for the past week
On arrival it looked very choppy with a northerly breeze which meant spinning was going to be tough.
Got the gear ready & started casting but after half an hour I give up between the wind & floating weed it was a night mare
I headed over & got set up, baited up with a few Limpets dropped down along the rock edge under my feet & the bites came quick but no hook ups then bang a big Wrasse hit the bait hard & took off for the kelp, what a scrap she gave one of the best I’ve had from a big Wrasse
Got her landed, a few quick pics & she tipped the scales slightly over 5lb not the biggest I’ve caught from here but fought just as good
John had come over to brag about a wee Pollock he got not noticing the big Wrasse swimming in the rock pool next him
Hooked & landed another three but was beginning to wonder where all the Corkwing wrasse had gone as the place was full of them last year & bang on queue I caught one, another species for the list
Tried for a Mullet but they just weren’t having it, with one big fellow just cruising up & down, teasing me it must have been over the 6lb mark, they’d drive you mad to catch
Had to retreat as a downpour was on the way, but we were to late getting back to the cars & got soaked to the skin!!
