gunwell 8/9.05.10 night session

People:me and me friend

Duration:10pm to 5am

Tide:high at 3.40am

Weather:very good

Bait:lug, mac, pork liver

Rigs:2 hook flappers

Results:codling, coallies, pouting, pollack,poor cod, doggies, ray, 3beard rockling, dab




Report:hi, lads fished in the mark in daylight so though to try in the dark see what appiers at night. as you see variety of spesies it's much wider. this time have used fresh pork liver wondered how it would efect fish. well fish seems wont pass it by, so i'v got dab, 3b rockling and doggie. i heard its good atracting the conger in co.antrim and gunwell have some too, but never got one, might bit early yet :?: . the fish isn't big sized but nomerous if they there. would be plenty small pouting, collies some nice pollack at sunset useing feathers very close to the rocks we got some around 2.5lb. the best time was sunset and two hours till high tide. friend of my cought first his ray not shore i thing is spoted one so see in the picture, eand doggies are very common too. i thing it was worth to have sleepless night :)

Pork liver....:-) Brilliant. Reminds me of using little bits of stewing beef off buncrana pier to catch dabs many moons ago. Nice range of species there, as a matter of interest how many fish hit the liver baits.
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial :D

hi, pete i'v used pork liver for the first time i got 1 dab it was only i got that night that was more in daylight in last my session i don't know why they might moved in shalow water for the night there is 18m depht i.v no idie honestly, than 1 doggie of 6 and 2 rocklings of 3 in total

Pork liver, eh? I've had a 35 lb tope on that, boat fishing out of Lymington in England.

Had it as an emergancy bait cos it's nice and bloody. Mackeral weren't producing, so by the time I used it it had been marinading in it's own juices for long hot hours.

Boy did it stink..... :D

Nice session that Grady fair play to ya. Never used pork liver as bait, must give it a try.
Ya should a been here last week.

thanks tom from now on i'll gona have few bits of liver at all my sessions i thing it is worth to try

sounds like a great session grady :P . it's amazing what baits the fish will take :shock: . i was fishing beside a guy in waterfoot (co antrim) last year who swore by liver, and sure enough he was getting loads of wee whiting and coalies on it :shock: . it's amazing what works as bait sometimes :P

pork liver :idea: add some onions to it and you will catch me every cast :lol: :lol: :lol:
but seriously when i did the shooting i used to keep all the offal from rabbits and birds, and tried it for bait, and it worked just fine 8)
as ole rab c said " see me' see the sea' i love the sea me"
right i'am off for a swally!!!!!!! so were's the F***'n purse!!!!!!!

hey grady well done.ive read so many of ur reports bout this place gunwell and im glad you finally got a good decent session off it.well as u found out it fishes best at night like nearly all places so now u no when to fish it in future.well done.nice pics

thank you brian is only may i think later in summer months more speasies will appier like huss or conger worth to try it if passing near by :wink:
