Was wondering if anybody has been out collecting Sandeel's around the Dublin area yet? Freezer is getting low.

Re: Sandeels
I haven't tried for them yet, but I seen good shoals a few weeks ago in some of the bays on the front shore, I usually just use a fine mesh landing net as I know banks on spring tides that have really soft sand.
Wold love to catch them on the front shore though and use for livies, a mate uses small size 12 feathers and seems to get loads, I've tried it but get hammered by the mackies who wreck the rigs...

Re: Sandeels
not if your collecting bait. but if you where to catch a bass/sea trout or even a small flat fish you have to put it back. most anglers will remove the small fish before the eels as well just to make sure they survive.
