Sandeels

Was wondering if anybody has been out collecting Sandeel's around the Dublin area yet? Freezer is getting low.
Wish list for 2015: sword tail, black Molly, horny cobbler

WE have Sandeels showing in south down, how are you collecting??

Collecting with a smallish two man net. any numbers in the amount your getting?

I haven't tried for them yet, but I seen good shoals a few weeks ago in some of the bays on the front shore, I usually just use a fine mesh landing net as I know banks on spring tides that have really soft sand.

Wold love to catch them on the front shore though and use for livies, a mate uses small size 12 feathers and seems to get loads, I've tried it but get hammered by the mackies who wreck the rigs...

Took a look on you tube ref builders netting, is ther any laws etc to stop you netting for sandeels in this way?

not if your collecting bait. but if you where to catch a bass/sea trout or even a small flat fish you have to put it back. most anglers will remove the small fish before the eels as well just to make sure they survive.
