Re: CHEATING ! THE PASTE !
Noel as far as I know (and I'm I'm no expert) you can't use additives like an oil to your bait.

Re: CHEATING ! THE PASTE !
With all due respect, this is a bit paranoid, and over the top.
If the use of artifical additives/scents etc are banned in a competitions rules than yes anyone who uses them should have their score disqualified.
As is in the case in the IFSA, and most clubs in Ireland, If there is no rule against their use then it is up to each angler to use anything he wants if he thinks it will make a difference.
I would often crush dead peelers and soak mackerel baits in the juice, or tenderise squid strips, and soak them in the blood and oils squeezed out of a mackerel head and guts, in both cases I am actually using "additives" to the natural bait, is this wrong ??
Most of the additives out there don't actually work in our waters as the water temp is too low to allow proper dispertion of the scents, but the constant experimenting, espically amongst match anglers, has led to huge advances in tackle and techniques we can all benefit from
In my opinion bans in general stifle innovation and experimentation, and are called for, in the majority, by people who are to lazy, or to stuck in their ways to try something different.

twinkle wrote:does this include boat comps as well? what about dubby?
This is the ruling from EFSA on rubby dubby, cant find anything from IFSA on it's use.
Ground bait and the use of rubby-dubby is permitted on all occasions during a Boat or Game competition by an individual angler or team if the event is a Game event; but may not be laid previous to a competition. This groundbait or rubby-dubby can only consist of the bait given to the individual angler or team, or any fish, mollusc or crustacean they catch during the competition period. The blood of mammals is not permitted. Ground bait and the use of rubby-dubby is not permitted in any Shore competition. For Boat competitions only; rubby-dubby for the benefit of all the anglers on a boat can only be deployed with the agreement of the majority of anglers onboard, and this must consist solely of unwanted species, bait discards and remnants returned to a common box solely for the purpose of baiting a rubby-dubby device for the benefit of all anglers on the boat.

i wouldnt use it in a comp if your going to win you might as well do it the right way theres no pleasure in cheating plus its better winning without it if others are using it
