Greystones, the steps, 20-11-09

#1 Post by eyesreilly »

People:me

Duration:5pm-8-30pm

Tide:low

Weather:great

Bait:10 lug, 1 mack

Rigs:2 hook flappers

Results:1 whiting, 1 doggie , 2 dabs, 1 five bearded rockling

Report:With a welcome break in the weather and 10 lug leftover from last night, i convinced herself that she needed a spin out to Greystones, with me packing the fishing gear in the boot. After gales and rain and stormy seas last night, it was a pleasure to set up tonight and wait for a bite to register on the rod tip with calm seas and a beautiful star filled sky as a backdrop. I wasnt waiting long to see the first bite, a small fish nibbling away which turned out to be a 5 beard rockling, my first in a long time, another sign of winter.Things went quiet for the next while and i was running out of lug so i put on 2 lumps of mack and belted them out. A short while later the rod tip nodded away and i landed a nice doggie. I took a pic and returned him and went to clean off the rig only to find a nice surprise waiting for me on the bottom hook. Covered in weed was a nice dab, i hadnt even seen him   .I got another dab followed by a whiting in quick succession and that was it, my time was up and i packed away the rod and waited for my lift to arrive, feeling pretty well pleased with my few fish at low tide.
