Rays in Doneagal
Awrite lads was wondering have any of you heard of any ray been got yet around the swilly and doneagal beaches and up around kerry keel and the mouth of the swilly around fanad head.

Might be a bit early for them yet round that way.
I will be trying for them from May in donegal.
Some one might know better though, i would like to hear myself if any have been caught.

Had a bit of a dangle in the Mulroy on Saturday, not a long session, blanked.
Don't mean there's no fish ther, it just means I didn't catch any...

i think the rays move in a little sooner than we think, like last year a mate of mine had rays on fahn in febuary then had another session on st paddys day and got them again, so still think theyd be worth ago soon up around kerry keel and fanad. Was also wondering have use ever had anything else out of mulroy bay except for rays and dogs.

Dab, plaice, turbot, red/grey/tub gurnards, mackeral, small-eyed ray, cuckoo ray.... ok the last 2 are rays, but I was presuming you were talking about thornies.

a fellow came into the donegal angling centre last thurs and told us he caught 5 the night before and he wouldnt have been the most experenced sea angler all smallish by lough swilly standards

round about this time of the year they start showing at fahan, but they are very thin on the ground and you will have to put in the hours to get them, its the same story at the stoney beach at Dunaff head, i hope to be targarting them soon thou'

i usually dont try for ray until april/may, could be there before that i just never have connected with any before then

they are there at this time of the year mc, but not a lot of them. they start moveing in along fahan in march, got my first ray there last year at fahan mid march. but like you say arpil/may onwards is the best time for them. hopeing to get out this weekend for a couple of hours, so i might just hit fahan to check it out.....will keep you's informed....
