Zziplex Profile vs 50/50 Match*Mediterranean sea*Fixed spool

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Sorry i found your email:

"Hi Amigo,

Sorry it has taken me a long time to answer you, I have been very busy.

Let me start by saying all Zziplex rods are great rods, but some models stand out better than others, the Standard Profile is such a rod, it is very slim ( butt section measures 22mm with the shrink tube) for casting or lifting big fish it has great power and the bite detection is great.

The Profile are a newer model than the 50/50 and most people like the Profile better, I have sold more Profile this year than any other rod....I only sell Zziplex rods.

The Profile Match is not the same as the Profile Lure rod, the Profile Match has many of the same characteristics of the Standard Profile with a softer tip action.....the Profile Lure has a softer through action I am told, I have never made a Profile Lure rod........."
Im going to buy a pair (2) Zziplex Profile (standard) nude blanks with butt cup and rod bag ( i saw zziplex rod bags in a forum,

Juan,

I will send you another email with prices and delivery charges to Spain.

If I was buying a PAIR of rods like that I would get one "Standard" and one "Match" they would still be a matching pair but you would have most fishing needs covered with one or the other.

Sorry i want 2 identical rods ( here in Spain all people fish with 2 identical rods) In the field you have different rods but not in the beach.
Thanks.

In few days i`ll be bulding my new pairs of Profile. I`ll ring them with Fuji CMNSG (Silver, sic rings) 30-25-20-16-12-12-TIP(12), with this Ring Spacings: 6-14-25-39-58 and 8" Down from top of butt. Reel seat will be a Fuji LS-7 Silver...but im not sure at what distance from the butt cup, may be 68cm???? What do you think.

In Spain many people thinks that for fixed spool all the rings must to be in the second piece but i think that Terry Carroll cant be wrong no??

Thanks to all of you, and Specially to Tom.

Juan,

The best rod builder in the UK is probably Chris Dance, he works not far from the Zziplex factory and he works out most guide spaces with Terry himself....any guide spaces you see on the Summerland's website for Zziplex rods are to my knowledge supplied by either Chris Dance or Terry himself, they are the ones I would use 99% of the time, there would have to be a very good reason for me to go against what they state should be used.

Thats said, I do listen to tournament casters who try new ideas outside of the box (anglers dont tend to bother about such things as much) and come up with reasons why sometimes a different number of guides (more or less sometimes) work in a certain way, aslo the size of the guides used is very important, especially on the choke guides when a fixed spool rod is being built...personally I would never use a guide smaller than a size 40 for a fixed spool rod that had the stripper guide on the butt section. You may get away with a 30 if the stripper was on the tip section and as far away from the reel face as possible, this would not be how I would like to see that style of rod.

**Juan, if you are not sure, why not tape the guides on to the blank and try a few casts to see what its like before you have the builder make your rods up.

Hey Juan,

Good to see your new Profiles built up and ready for action, I am sure they wont let you down.

168m is not such a bad distance my friend, once you get used to them I am sure you will be breaking 200m.

keep in touch with us and lets know how your getting on with your casting and your fishing, its always good to see what the other guy is catching on his beaches.

Best of luck 8)
Tom.
