Zziplex Profile vs 50/50 Match*Mediterranean sea*Fixed spool

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Zziplex Profile vs 50/50 Match*Mediterranean sea*Fixed spool

#1 Post by loboestep »

Hi from Spain, im looking for a Zziplex for fishing in the mediterranean sea, i would like a rod for fishing but with long cast and good bite detection. Slim and light. i will use it OTG with 4.25 Ozs and fixed spool, and also very thin line: 0.18. On clean beaches.
Im thinking about Profile and 50/50 match wich of them do you think is best for me??? May be there is other rod best than this ??? i will buy the nude blank.

Thankyou very much.

Excuse my english.

hello laboesstep, the two rods you mentioned would certainy do the
job very nicely, my preference would be the 50/50 match, would
work better rung for fixed-spool work. , their are other rods which
would be worth a mention- century tip-tornado lite, and ultra-lite. to
name just two.

8)

have been using the profile long enough to know its a very light rod but with enough backbone to get any lead out to distance, as for bite detection i cant fault it, mine is rung for multiplier but if you are getting a blank i cant see a problem with it being rung for fixed spool.

as mentioned wait to hear from rockhopper (the zziplex king), i have a feeling he might put you onto the profile match rod

and welcome to the site too :)

Thanks for your fast answers, now just waiting for Zziplex`s Master (rockhopper) answer

One more question: I think 50/50 match has spigot joint isn´t true?? and the Profile??
Wich system its better?? Aesthetically i prefer spigot joint.

Thanks.

I have a Profile and can say it is a fantastic rod. 13ft - 2 equal sections. However, if you dont mind an 8ft tip, the Zzippy Powertex Bass 12'8" is awesome. It will cast 2-5 oz a very long way and is only slightly lighter than the Profile. :D

Do you think that 240£ for a 50/50 match new blank (without rings and reel seat ) is a good price??
I know that in summer***** is 229£ but they dont sale/send to Spain..
If any one know a good place with better prices i waite for pm.

Thankyou very much to all.

That is a good price. The Profile casts very well up to 150g but will cost about £300. Never tried the 50/50 so cant comment. Look at the Bass rod though - about £200.

no, 8 ft is too long for my lift (elevator) and i live in a 4th floor. 6.5 ( 2 metres ) maximun.
Now things are between 50/50 Match and Profile Match...

Thankyou

Jaun,

That picture wont tell anyone anything about how a rod bends, as they dont know what pressure its under. I have sent you an email weeks ago and explaining the action of both the standard Profile and the Profile Match, I dont know what more can be done from an internet site, the only other way to find out more is to try one out in real time for yourself.

I dont mean to sound rude, but your not taking much of a chance by buying a Zziplex rod blind, especially one of there fishing rods, you would do better to ask guys on this site who have used both the profile and the 50/50 what one they like best and why and then make your own mind up.

Dont worry about seeing a bite from eithe model of Profile.....you will know if even the little fish take your hook
