waterfoot pier 17/11/07

People:me and sam

Duration:1800/0200

Tide:full in around 5

Weather:light breeze rain on and off

Bait:ragworm lugworm mackerel squid

Rigs:conger trace 2 hook flappers

Results:codling dab conger dogfish lobster coalfish

Catch and Release:: Yes



Report:headed up to Waterfoot pier to try for a few codling had heard there bigger than last year. mackerel baits were catching dogfish dab codling and then a conger.not much joy on the worm baits the pin whiting were tearing them off the hooks.we ended up between us 13 dogfish 11 small dab 1 coalfish 8 codling a lobster we were handed a few joey mackerel from an angler leaving sam targeted an eel and managed an 11 lb er had to climb down onto a boat to land it with his beach caster.

nice conger mate,did yas get it around the left of the pier at the rocks?

no mate round to the right were the charter boats moored but you can get them round to the left aswell :)

not a bad session alan ,and its good to see sam upright :lol: who was on the pear cider ?

he usually gets me 2 tins when he.s in getting a 12 pack of harp and 2 bottles a magners im glad he bought a new float suit last year he slipped on moss at waterfoot pier and fell in head first :lol:

Nice Conger, you did right to leave when you did lads, it went dead till around 6am, all i was getting was flounder/dabs but got a couple of nice codling turned 6 am so not so bad :lol:

Nice fishing lads.

No offence and im not poo pooing anyone but winter, night fishing and boozing dont mix, its seems you already witnessed this. Hypothermia is a serious and very nasty reality.

Nice Conger and an interesting catch with the lobster. Were the codling of a decent size?

i have to agree with marty here. i dont think its safe. especially off of a pier where you would have a long fall and very deep water.

as for he woho are you to stop him question..... find someone else to fish with................

Lovely looking wee codling that, quite dark of itself. Is that mackerel hanging out of its gob Alan?
Sea Species(25) bass, codling, whiting, turbot, seatrout, stingray, pollock, coalfish, longspine scorpion, ballan wrasse, dogfish, ling, pouting, poor cod, dab, mackerel, smelt, sandeel, launce, bull huss, painted ray, thick lip mullet, golden grey mullet, rock goby.
Fresh Water (2) brown trout, sea trout
