People:me alone
Duration:about 3.45 - 7.15pm
Tide:low around 6ish I think
Weather:light N wind, quite pleasent for Feb.
Bait:frozen black lug, peeler, mussel, sandeel, razor
Rigs:1/2 hook flappers
Results:1 whiting about 23cm
Catch and Release:: Yes
Report:First time fishing this year, not a great return but it was a fine day to be on the beach. 5 others fishing to my left didn't seem to have much luck either. One rod in close, another at various distances, new headlight broke and reel kept coming off the rod on the retrieve due to dodgy coasters :x so I decided to leave.
This beach has failed to produce anything of note on my last few sessions here, anybody fish it successfully recently, would have expected plenty of whiting at least?

Not really,rarely any quantity anyway, however my first few sessions on it produced a good few species including my first bass, hence why I'm allways hopeful when going here.
I generally tend to stick to between Newcastle and Wicklow because of lack of transport, Newcastle is normally just dogs, this time of year the Killoughter "road" is terrable and I don't know Wicklow very well during Winter so this leaves 5 Mile as the best bet.
BTW used circle hooks for the first time, may have only caught 1 but it was hooked in the lip and easy to remove.
