Hi Davy
Well done on on the PB. Where abouts was the beach was it towards Aughris or towards Easkey on the coast road. I was fishing a beach that I don't know the name closer to Aughris yesterday and caught 2 small turbot and a flounder. I have resolved to fish each little beach along that stretch this year and hopefully find one that can produce a bass or 2. It was my second time fishing the beach I was at yesterday and it has produced fish both times and it looks good for the summer months.

hi shane

the beach is towards aughris, there is nothing signposted, but there are about 1/2 a dozen houses, close together on the coastroad and the turn off is there, on the short road to the beach there is one painted house, road leads to a rough gravel parking space, there are rocks on the right, and a very wee stream coming in just at the left of the carpark, quite a goodspot for seatrout later on, but beware of weaverfish - they seem common enough in the area.

i was fishing straight out from the beach unsuited for swimming sign

Thats exactly the same beach that I fished on Sunday. It is good to know that it produces fish and I haven't just been lucky the times I've fished there. I reckon that the rocks to the right of the car park might be productive later in the year using plug or spinners. There was some good surf running when I was there Sunday so maybe that bass I'm looking for might show up.

Hi guys,

Nice to see fish being caught off Sligo in Feb. The beach is called Trawee but I can't remember if it's marked as such on the OSi map. Have ledgered there a few times in front of the car park resulting in a seatrout and flounder. That was in March about two or three years ago. It's a bit of a walk, but if you head left down the beach about a mile there are some nice looking ledges and gullies which would be easier to plug from than the rocks by the car park. I haven't got round to fishing them - maybe this summer... Let me know how you get on if either of you give it a go.

Regards.

Hi Mac
Thanks for putting a name on that beach I can stop calling it 'the one just past Aughris' now. Just before christmas myself and a mate did have a look a bit further down the beach and decided that it was a summer spot, the wind was howling and it was lashing with rain. With fish been caught in feb in Sligo hopefully it's a sign that the spring and summer are going to be good months for fishing this year. I'll def betrying for sea trout around there later in the year. cheers for the info.

A reliable source told me that both plaice and turbot were taken off the beach earlier in the year -- April I think it was . Between the stream and the rocks to the right . Looks like a good spot but there are often surfers exactly where you would want to be .
