Glenarm Breakwater, Co Antrim 21 Jan

#1 Post by glengormley-gavin »

People: spgavin, Conor C and myself

Duration: 09.45 to 12.30

Tide: HT 12.40

Weather: Bright but cold

Bait: Rag, mack, squid, sandeel & prawn

Rigs: Flappers, pulley, 2 hook clipped and conger

Results: Blankety Blank Cheque Book and Pen

Catch and Release:: - The bait was returned to the sea if that counts

Report:
The FPO let me out for a few hours today so we headed to the Breakwater. I wasn't expecting much because from experience, this venue does not fish well during the day in winter. However, it is close to home and easy to get to considering the short permit I had from the FPO.....

I managed to lose two rigs and a lot of line due to snags in areas where there are normally no problems - the recent storms must have deposited some extra debris on the sea bed.

spgavin had a couple of decent knocks on mackeral baits but no takers. Nothing else of much interest.

Still it was good to get out for a few hours. The IMAX float suit that I got a few weeks back really kept out the cold - well happy with it

Keep the lines tight boys and girls....
