Penn Affinity

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Just took the rod out last night for the first time...had a small surf on beach and lots of wind... it handled a 6oz with ease..and knocked that bait out there easily..very lenghty and the movable reel seat give u control over ur own rod... bite detection is excellent...even the smallest of cod registered with a thump, which i like...a power house rod, i like it :D

Hi

That is the 16 foot version yes?

What reel and line are you using and any idea on distance for the average caster? I am very interested in a longer rod, 14-16 foot and am looking to compare Tektron, Triplex and a few others...

thanks m8

hey man...16ft yes.. i have the surfmaster 70 on while waitin 4 the 850..but that was a bad idea cause the line gets trapped under the gears...so i put my daiwa emcast adv 5500.... 18lb line on with a shockleader, 5oz weight and 2 hooks loaded with bait gets it way out there..150 easy...and u could easily get 200 outta this thing..i was just havin fun last night and i was casting way farther than guys beside me...even tho they were near 90 lol... worth a look gerrys 205 sterling...

Kieran, If you can make it to one of the comps, I have the Tektron with both standard and Match tip, and a 14' Triplex. I think Kev has the 16' Triplex too. They are all very different TBH and well worth a play with first.

Hi

Still on the crutches lads so it won't be Kilmuckridge but I would hope to hit a few more of the competitions this year, and Mark... I have hot glue and spare rings with me... so no excuses this time! :D

Seriously though, thanks for the offers and I will be taking you up on them... at some stage...

Cheers
