does anyone know anywhere that sells potato forks , maybe a garden center or agricultural supplier

try the d.i.y centre in Dun Loaghaire its just across the road from the fishing tackle, id say if he doesnt have one he would order one for you. your after leaving it a bit late to be diggin your potatoes up in anyways arent you :lol:

Try B/Q they have flat tined forks at the moment there not bad price i think around 40 euro. Other than there you might get them in ashbourne i think the name the hardware shop is murphys.

i got mine in atlantic homecare a few yrs back for 12 euro.. still going strong..

Yes you can get forks for 12 euros, that grand if you only use them a couple of times a year like you would.I am talking about forks that i use three times a week for digging lug. I don't think you understand what a potato fork looks like so when you understand what i am talking about go see how much you can get one for. And if you can get them for 12 euro I'll buy a trailer load off you.

ahh the memories of picking spuds down the local farm for a tenner a day when i was 9yrs old...

thing is with alot of spud forks they are not as strong as other pitch forks... and if your digging in compact sand it wouldnt be long before your getting a hammer out to straighten the prongs :? :?

as for the fork i use, it might have only cost me 12 euro, but it is a stainless steel fork with a solid plastic shaft and handle... and it gets regular use(as nige and fishingmidget can tell you )

buut when it comes down to it.. its not the fork that digs the worms.. its the person who's using the fork... by that i mean you can use absolutely any fork to dig, but if you dont have the technique (and there is one) you wont get all the worms...

Flat tined are worth the money alright, I have the one in b/q but yet to use it(fecking tests), my mate has a potato fork and its so much easier to dig with and saves alot of effort.

i think you would be wasting your time if you gave that shop in dun laoghaire a ring . the wide tined potato fork i have for years was made by a company called bulldog still going strong only maintenance was an odd weled now and again. hope the brand name helps. :wink:

i have an old american one i got for 20 euro........it is really strong.

And that fork of steves really is strong.....ive seen him put his whole weight on it.......and it didnt bend. and he isnt small.

the "lug digging forks" are complete rubbish. they might be good forks, but it is just manufacturers taking an oridinary fork and sticking a label on it that says "bait digging fork".

Ill take ten of them samo! Would you take a trade in on a couple of rag buckets? Theyre supposed to get you more rag but I cant work them properly?
