How boring would that be??

You go out in a boat to hopefully enjoy the fight of the fish, not stand with 1 hand scratching your piles while the other is pushing a lever that controls how fast the reels brings in a fish! You may as well throw a net out and trawl.

That said I can see an advantage for a disabled angler who is looking to enjoy a day afloat, but that would be the exception.

id say with those kind of reels it would be easy enough to rip the hooks out of any hard fighting fish

think their aimed at fishing near drop offs of tropical reefs where 700+ feet of water is common, not for me tho i'm afraid, may as well get a winch

I was impressed by them. Used in the environment they are designed for I'm sure they are great. Imagine how much more efficient a days fishing would be in deep water with one of them. Rebait in no time without killing yourself winding in for ages and not waste all the time it takes to do it. They are aimed at fishing 300ft+ and anyone that has had the pleasure of retrieving a pound or two of lead in tide from that depth or more to rebait would appreciate how it might be nice :D .

As far as fighting a fish using the motor is concerned, that would be silly and is why you don't have to unless your silly, mind you if fishing 2 rods at anchor or drifting and both got hit at once you could keep light constant light pressure on one with the reel while you fought the other one.

It was the kite fishing video that interested me the most and i have been reading about it on the net since and it sure looks a great way to catch a big shark from the shore in Ireland. A good heavy boat outfit and you could do it without too much trouble, takes two people but if you landed one your gonna need 2 people neway id say. Its very popular in New Zealand and America it seems though in not sure i agree with their methods of using up to 25 hooks at once
