Benone - concrete slip 4/1/07

#1 Post by Spurs_boy »

People: Me and my shadow

Duration:5 hours 11.30am-4.30pm

Tide: LW at 1.30pm, fairly rough, with surging water, settling all the time

Weather: Westerly, slowly easing all day

Bait:Rag, Mackerel, Lazy Lug

Rigs: 2 & 3 hook flappers

Results: flounder, turbot

Catch and Release: Yes

Report

Arrived at Benone with sand blowing horizontally across beach and big sea running. Was going to turn and go somewhere else but basically couldn't be bothered  Tide was otherwise perfect so gave it a go. First chuck (using 30z gripper) resulted in a full house - 2 flounder and 1 turbot. Only 1 of the fish was below 30 (flounder). Went very quiet until tide started to turn then was getting 1 fish a cast for the next couple of hours with every flounder over 30cm. Well pleased with my efforts!

Lazy lug accounted for half the fish or so. Was experimenting with black amnesia snoods on 1 trace and flourocarbon on the other. No appreciable difference was noted.

if there was a big sea running, the water was probably a bit dirtier than normal, any colour snoods are ok up there when its like that
