No, I have the big beach and its a heavy beast. Great rod but too heavy for me. I will probably sell it later in the year.

i know what you mean.ive been watching a big beach for the last few months.i'l wait till xmas has passed and prod invest then.i'd like to have it before the ray arrive.one thing is i'd get rid of the coasters on them. cant understand coasters on an out and out rough ground rod. doesnt make sense

Before you decide, take a look at the 13' beach as well. It shouldn't be as stiff as the rock (which I haven't seen) or as heavy as the big beach (which I have) but it is still rated for 6-8oz and seems to have more than enough guts for any situation I'm likely to encounter. I bought it as my first multiplier rod and so far have found it very easy to get on with.

Also, gotta agree about the coasters. They're not bad quality as coasters go, but the first thing I did was buy an Abu griplock.

Couple of the lads I fish with have the Big Beach and love it. They feel very nice as do most of the AA rods I've seen. Estuary rod feels nice too. Still waiting to have a swish with one.

yeah, estuary rod could well be added before the summer, looks a cracker!
the beach wouldnt be what id be lookin, if i am to go for the rock, its because i really need an all out rough ground multiplier rod.

I recently had the opportunity to take an AA rock rod for an extended test. I didn't have any real expectations because I was more than happy with the rod I was using for rough ground (Apollo 13ft Mk1) but I was so impressed with the AA rock rod that I bought one of my own after just two trips using the test rod.

I was particularly impressed with the slimness and lightness of the rod, and also with the castability. The action is more progressive than the apollo. The tip is very stiff (more so than the apollo) and the butt has more give in it. It has performed very well so far and I am more than happy with my purchase (if a little surprised that I found something I liked better than my apollo)

Hope this helps.

Deep water rock mark with strong tide run.

Unfortunately the only fish to be had on the night were doggies and I am now out of action for a few weeks so have to sit and look longingly at the rod :D

AA BIG-BEACH,

hello manx-fisher, would you describe its action as parobolic, or medium
to fast, thinking about one for the rough stuff, and the odd cast over-
grass, all the best .

Hi Stevo

Not sure on the technical terms for theses things, but I can try to describe how it felt like to cast (although I am far from being an expert when it comes to casting) :)

I would say it has an all through action. Compared to my apollo, the AA rock rod tip is firmer and the butt is softer. I think this helps us mere mortals when it comes to casting as the rod bends along its length and so is easier to bend than the usual rods designed for rocks. Not that casting distance is usually an issue when it comes to rock fishing (sometimes the closer in the better) but it is nicer to use.

It also comes with a good sized reducer, so you can fish with the reel in the low position and still end up with the reel in a comfortable position for winding in and bullying fish.

cheers mate, the way you decribed is dead on mate, have heard some
tournament casters describe them as, a rod that really bends, right into
the butt, still able to produce really big casts, all the best , steve.
