What were the lights?
When pier fishing on Donegal bay (whiting) last night - calm water and overcast sky - I noticed small flashing lights in the sea below my feet - a bit like glow-worm flashes. Does anyone know what they would have been?

I knew the "drink" would be implicate - OK there was drink taken and I do not have witnesses (although if I had, they would most likely have been drunk) - but what was it I saw?. Glad lumpy has seen it - shrimpy size fits but they are unlikely to have been close to the surface - small fish?. Plankon are tiny - it would not have been them.

We used to call them "Meeresleuchte" (sea lights) when I lived on the Island in the North Sea. It's a phosphorescent algae is what was explained to me.
It used to be great to go down and watch the edges of the waves sparkle and if you walk on it on the tidemark your footprints phosphoresce, really cool phenomenon.
