People : Me
Duration :9pm - 1am
Tide : Dropping
Weather : Clear with a light easterly wind
Bait : Mackerel/Sandeel
Rigs :Pulley
Results :1 Rockling,1 Codling and 1 Coalie
Catch and Release: : Yes
Report :
A very slow night at the pier with very few bites but still a nice evenings fishing. All three fish where of very respectable size for Portaferry and more than made up for lack of numbers. On the down side the light on the end of the pier was out leaving me in complete darkness bar my little LED headlight and a pair of Herons started diving at me to try and steal my bait. This doesn't sound to bad but when standing there in near pitch black and these things come out of nowhere screaming like terradactyls and you cant see where they are coming from until you feel the wind from there wings it scares the crap clean out of you. This is my closest experience of them and I pray to God I don't get a closer one. This lasted for about twenty minutes and I think to date its the longest twenty minutes of my life
(anyone any spare bicycle clips)

Why thank you Mr Mcminn and as for the birds you can only watch out if you see them coming.

With the size of them buggers last night Jude I think I'd need a Gatling gun at the very least.

if all goes according to plan the light should be back on tomorrow.
there is a service cable fault to the slip.
it will be a road digging exercise but should save you e-baying for a gun!
cheers
