Sented bait oils?

Hi martin ive used herring scented oil before but thats pike fishing injecting the bait using a syringe. If i was making rubby dubby certainley id lash a bottle in for good measure. It definately does leave a trail,scent u can see the oil dispersing when u drop the bait in the water even after a few retrieves it still works! Suppose it doesnt do any harm using it so id say aye it does work to some extent

ive used cod liver oil tablets with a few pin holes in them and placed them in the body of a whole squid when fishing for conger and huss. have cought fish on this but whether or not i would have cought with out them i'm unsure.
