Sorry to ask this, I know many have done so before, this is just varied to suit my needs
Looking for a 14ft rod, my casting is truely terrable (seriously) and with no time in the forseable future to learn the skill I'm looking to add some easyish distance.
Will be used on the Wicklow beaches so its clean to mixed ground. Probably coupled with a 6000 daiwa emcast pro f/s and useing 4/5/6ozs.
I'm not very big so a longer rod more than 14' may not suit. :?
It will be my main rod and have I about 200euro to spend inc. postage.
Any recommendations or info is gratefully recieved 8) :D
thanks,
col

something from the penn range. they always sell off their stuff at the end of every year so look around and you can get a decent bargain. any of their rods i've ever handled have always been relatively easy to bend and are a good all round fishing tool. i recently bought a ppt sidewinder for 200 euro, and i really can't fault it so far. saying that i don't have it that long, but other lads on the forum do have them a good while and reckon they're a decent rod.

depending what you have to spend.
i would go for a grauvell cant go wrong veals do a few of them at moment do a rod and reel deal on the rc range.
Also wife just got a penn powerstix and i used it and then got one myself strong and will last and pritty good to cast with and comes with a free cordoba protection tube. Have seen a few on the beach and everyone said very good and better than price can pick them up for now.
southend angling did me a great deal with next day delivery.

oops  forgot to mention above. Saw it on the worldseafishing forum in the clasified section.
Will go into viking and check out their grauvel selecton, I think they are they are the main Irish dealers for them.
The triplex seems to be about 340euro inc postage online at the mo' (and just 10eu extra at Henrys but only the 16'), but you do get a load of free luggage with it. Am keeping an eye on ebay too :D
Not sure if the penn would suit due to my pathetic casting style :?
Anyway I'll keep lookin', any more advice is welcome.

Just used a Greys Orion 14ft tonight to see what it's like. Borrowed the 13ft version a couple of weeks back and thought it was OK. The 14ft version I thought would be too awkward for me but I have to say it felt better. Can get one locally to me for £89 before negotiation so I'm considering one. Might be worth a look or a test drive if someone has one to help.
