Rostoonstown Wexford

#1 Post by SHANE R »

People:Me
Duration:2-8pm

Tide
:Flooding

Weather
:Cool with a light breeze

Bait
:Lug, makereal, fresh peeler, razor fish

Rigs:pennel pulley rig and 2 hook flappers

Results:25+ coalies, 3 cod to 3lbs, 4 whiting, 2 doggies and one monster doggie which i think was a bull huss not too sure

Catch and Release:: Yes / No. One of the cod was very deeply hooked and i could not get the hook out, so I took it for the table

Report: One of the best afternoons fishing I've ever had. Had a coaley almost every cast for about four hours. Started with 2 beach casters but changed to one beach caster and a lighter bass rod to have some fun with the coaleys. Took the large doggy / huss at distance just as it got dark. The cod all fell to lug worm thumped as far as i could get it. The bad weed that had been reported on this beach in the last few weeks never really showed up, although fishing did become harder as the tide rose. Can't wait to get back here, hope to fish it again the day after St Stephens day.

Certainly was a great session. I made the point a few weeks ago about fishing this venue at the right time in the right conditions. This is one of the best venues in the country.

Thanx lads, it was a great afternoon and you have to enjoy them when you get them. Wish there was more fishing like that around Sligo.

Alby rostoonstown is just south of Carnesore Point. To get there from Wexford town, take the road for Rosslare for about eight miles, until you come to a village called Killnick, follow the sign from Killnick for Our Ladys Island and Broadway. When you enter Broadway pass the closed pub on your left and take a right after the school at the post office, follow this road for about 4 miles. You will come to a cross roads here there is a sign for Rostoonstown, it's the road to the extreme left and follow this until you come to the dunes. I was fishing about 150 yards to the left of the path onto the beach but I've fiahed all over the beach. Keep an eye on 2 things the undertow from the breakers, very dangerous and it will snap tackle or loose fish and where you park the car, I've got stuck here more than once.
