Neoprene chest waders

im thinking on investing in a pair of these waders espically as they would b great for retrieveing the boat r they comfortable enough to wear all day and is their such thing as gortex ones saw a pair of neoprene diawa ones in my local tackle shop for 50 quid. Does anybody else here use this type of wader and whats your views on them

I've got a Pair of Snowbee Chest Waders, Don't ask me what they're made off but they're a good Job. 8)

I have a pair of Ron Thompson in neoprene. I find they're really good for an all-nighter on the beach with an Imax 2 piece flotation suit coat on top. Keep you nice and warm, but you will sweat a lot under them.

I use a pair of Dennetts PVC waders if needed when launching or retrieving. Cheap as chips and fold down small for storage on board. Neoprenes would be grand if you were going to wear them all day. They are tougher to store as they don't fold up very small.

you lads are lucky, I went to get neoprene chest waders and was told that they don't make that big :x :x

PS I am not fat, well not that fat, I just got a 52 inch chest.

sorry forgot to add that a company in the UK can make PVC wader to fit, I am waiting on mine, if any good I'll let you know.

neoprenes are grand if you are out in cool or cold weather.. you sweat like a farmyard animal on hot days..

word of warning.. they may be handy for taking a boat out and bringing it in .. but dont wear them out on the water...

if anything were to happen that you went overboard.. they will fill up with water and bring you down with them :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:

most good charter boats ban any anglers from wearing them out on the trips..

I got a pair of Diawa Chesties a few weeks back on Ebay and wore them for the first time tonight.

I thought they were fantastic. Really warm, comfortable and easy to get on and off.

Better than Bib & Brace.

- what company do the waders in UK - got a pair of waist high Ron Thompson waders, fit okay but are a pain in the ass as they keep slipping down on me :oops: :oops:

that's a common misconception, water inside full waders is only as dense at water outside the waders, so they won't pull you down. neoprene is a closed cell foam, exact same as a wet suit, it's bouyant. i came across an article all about this a couple of years ago on the web i'll try and find it. the problems start when you try and swim for safety, you are carrying gallons of water inside the waders and you'll tire yourself out in minutes, then you're sh*gged if you out on the open sea. should you you fall in while wading on the shore or on a lake from a boat, chill out, roll over on your back and you'll find yourself floating nicely, by slowly and calmly kicking your legs you will start to make it to shore. but then you start encountering all sorts of other problems like swells and pointy rocks!!!!

in fact neoprene chesties will keep you warmer than being exposed in your normal clothes, almost like a floatation suit.

i have tried it, i bunged myself in on a beach one day with a mate standing beside me (just to be sure!!!!) and sure enough as long as i remained calm i bobbed around nicely, start to struggle and i was knackered in seconds.

i suppose moral of the story is don't take the chance coz odds are if you end up in the drink, you'll freak a bean and kill yourself! but i just wanted to highlight the misconception that seems to be out there!

Guys, for all those out there with *ahem* larger chest sizes, the Snowbee FB neoprene chesties are just the ticket! I have a pair myself and they have plenty of room for expansion! (FB - Full Bodied, not Fat B****** that is :lol: )

Its the legs they are big about30 inches (muscle not fat)

these waders just arrived to day and at first try the fit very well, with room for movement, they seem of a good build quality and I cant wait to get out and try them in the surf. Keep you posted on the first trail.

wife wouldn't let me do that, so went out and jumped in a puddle instead
