People: me & Te ariki nua

Duration: 5pm-10pm

Tide: came in for 4 hours and then turned

Weather: breezy with light rain at times

Bait: rag & mackerel

Rigs: 2 hook pat and penal rig

Results: 12 dogfish

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report: we hit glenarm at 5pm and cast out it was getting dark the first cast and bang the rods couldn’t have been in the water longer that 5 minutes and in side the first hour I had 2 dogs and Te ariki nua had 1 the night moved on and it was 2 all in no time. The night was calm but cold I got the old cupa soup out at 7pm we hardly had time to drink it the dogs were coming thick and fast by the time 8pm came we had 9 dogs. things seemed to die away when the tide was on the turn we had 2 dogs by 9pm and then it was starting to get relay cold we had another cupa soup and 1 more dog are last cast was at 9.40pm nothing much happened Te ariki nua had a good bite but nothing came of it we packed the rods in to his car 10pm and went on are merry way all in all a good nights doggy bashing 12 dogfish 6 all sure you couldn’t beat it with a big stick. All fish were returned safely to fight another day sure fishing for fun doesn’t get any better than this… :D

Can't beat the old doggy-bashing :!:

Seems to be the norm at Glenarm this time of year.

Dogs, dogs and more dogs.......

God knows where all the other fish are....

Using alternative baits doesn't seem to help either.....

most of the doggy's were the 2 LB mark 3 were 3 LB or maybe a little bit more i was surprised my self that no winter flounder turned up or even a little collie but the dogs were good fun 2 or 3 had broke my 5 oz griper lead and they all put up a good fight. tonight i will hopefully be fishing with Carrick Beach and Rockers Sea Angling Club at carnlough beach so i might get a little bit of a change a nice flattie would be nice

do the dogs bother with the baits as much if you fish with a lug and crab cocktail? the last time i fished here it seemed to put the dogs off (caught them on the other hooks with rag,mack or sandeel) and got codling and coalies on lug / crab
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!
