Spainish point forum meet

#1 Post by Donagh »

People:Me, sean365, neilus, nige, richard, stevecrow74

Duration: from 9pm till 2am

Tide: low at 9:15

Weather: clear sky with full moon. no wind with a light surf

Bait: Sand eel, mack, fresh and frozen lug, razor

Rigs: Paternosters and I had pulleys for fishing at distance.

Results:
Me: 2 weevers, 2 flounders (3/4 lb) and a doggy
Sean365: 2 weevers and a 2lb sea trout
Stevecrow74: 1 turbot
Neilus: a doggy, a plaice and a turbot

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report: I was scratching close in and fished a secound rod with larger bait further out. Sean and myself had the only fish the weevers before 11pm and the sean had a tumping bite and bar of silver came in that turned out to be a sea trout. Neilus and myself then had the doggies at distance. After 12pm we started getting the flatties close in. I got my flounder on black wraps tipped with mack with a 20 yard cast. The rest got the flats with 40 to 50 yard casts. It was a lovely night to be out but I'm wrecked after getting to bed at 4 in the morning and I'm up since 8am. Neilus stayed on hoping for bass.

I left at around 3am and was home in bed at 3.35 I bet I got home before the lot of ye lol it was a good night allright there was plenty of bites close in after ye went but id say it was small flatties, any one interested in doing it all over agian lol.

If it was clowdy the fishing would have been better or if there was more of a south westerly or a bigger surf......

An enjoyable nights fishing lads.

The Clare/Limerick boys didnt have time to drink coffee..... too busy catching fish

Plenty of species: turbot, sea trout, flounder, doggies, place and weavers.
Two new species for me so I am happy.

Unfortunatley the bass didnt cooperate, nothing new there then.

I'd definately be up for another session at some stage.
