Report: went to the head of the pier for some fishing after dark had loads of small fish about caught a pouting on the first cast so no blank.
while the baited rod was out tried spinning. while baiting up my fishing partner tried my spinning rod and hooked and lost a mackerel (what a noob!) so we both switched from spinning to floats baited with mackerel consistent action on the mackerel and pollock until about 10 pleasant nights fishing. got some mackerel in the freezer
caught my first fish on the (baited) fly had small pollock chasing a popper red and white. lost another fish on the fly as I tried to play it too much. good to finally get some action on a fly rod.
