Question: ABU Ambassaduer 6000 for casting.

#1 Post by Rumblefish »

Hi All,

I have this multiplier a number of years and have generally used it trolling in freshwater. But, I was wondering if anyone in the forum would recomend it for beachcasting?

I have been using open face reels for all my sea fishing to date but wanted to give the multiplier a try.

If it can be used, what rod would you recomend using.
Im using 12ft, 3 pound test-curve pike rods for shore fishing at the moment.

Any feedback welcome lads.

i like to fish when possible with a 2.75tc carp rod and an abu 5000 reel for flounder, wrasse and other smaller species. its a pleasure to us on calm days or sheltered areas where casting distance isnt important. lookingat ure pic it appears to be one of the earlier models, many of these had bushes rather than end spool bearings and so were a little more difficult to cast with. other than this u should be fine
shore species 2008(25):dogfish(3.1lbs), bull huss (12lb 2oz), bass, shore rockling, coalie, whiting, pollack, conger (22.4lbs),flounder, thick lipped mullet (4.8lbs),turbot,ling (11.2lbs),ballan wrasse(4.5lbs), cuckoo wrasse, pouting, poor cod, cod (9.5lbs), dab, 3 bearded rockling, long spined scorpion fish, corkwing wrasse, plaice, trigger fish, sea trout, garfish

Thanks for the info and advice Lumpy, appreciate that.

I'll give it a go and see how I get on, might think about investing in a newer model alright, the reel is in great condition but it is an older version as you noted.
I bought it 16 years ago for 30 Quid! :)
