Does the colour of shockleader really matter when targeting certain species?

i did a little test with that years ago(back in the ninties) while flattie bashin.... no matter what colour line i used for shockleader it made absolutely no difference, its the rig line that i've found that makes the difference... clear and red ar ok everything else didnt produce fish, i used green, red, yellow, grey, black. blue and clear lines..
i use yellow or red shockleader now because it is easier to see when the rig is getting near in the dark..
