Lug?

#1 Post by Bulldug »

Hi guys, I have another noob question, I hope you don't mind me pestering you all the time but if you don't ask you never find out!!
I was digging for lugworm the other day when I came across loads of things sticking out of the sand. The best way I can describe them is that they looked like fiberous pipe cleaners with a hole in the middle, there were thousands of them!!
When I dug deep enough to unearth some there were thin wormlike beasties in them (looked more like earthworms than lugworms!).
I did manage to get a few big lugworms in amongst this lot but nothing like what I usually get, the lug I did get were dug up normally, not inside any of the pipe cleaner thingies.
Several questions..What are they? Can the worms inside them be used as bait? If so whats the best way to remove the worms from them?
Cheers maties and soz for being a pain!
