Hook choice for maddies

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Hook choice for maddies

#1 Post by pete »

Does anybody have a preferred hook pattern for the wee lads? I've got some fine wire mustads but was wondering does anybody have a favourite pattern or know of a hook designed for them? Cheers for any advice.

some lads use owners, cant remember pattern. kamasan match are good if your using other baits up the shank. standard b940 u will get away with if only tipping. semicircles have there uses as the worms fall close to barb after casting, can help with hook ups.

i actually dont like using them as bait... but i guess a long shanked hook would be suitable...

they are just a strange kind of worm..... never caught anything on them either..

I use size 4 Kamasan B940 match hooks for maddies when fishing off surf beaches for flounder. I put a blow lug or 3 inches of Black lug on first and head hook a dozen maddies. I would not use any other hook for them.
