I'm new to sea fishing and I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on where to look for areas on beaches etc to dig for ragworm. I have managed to dig loads of lugworm but have never came across any rag.
I live in the Ards Peninsula - and any info would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Tam

you are looking for silt over clay usually at the very lowest part of the beach i happened upon my spot by accident while digging lug at strangford lough the place is diggable for lug from 2 hours either side of high tide. one day due to stupidity i arrived at the very bottom of the tide and walked to the waters edge and stuck in an exploratory spade to my delight 2 monster rag!! but it is a very small patch only about 5yards square so i was very lucky. so they are out there

yes ray is right bulldog u won't get ragworm in sand, just muddy beaches. i have to say i'm spoilt for raggies from where i'm from. i can dig enough worm for 4 people in an hour! if u know of any mudflats near u they would be worth a try. no real markings on the mud as obvious as lugworm trails though. good luck.
