Black lugworm

#2 Post by kieran »

Black lugworm are typically found on hard sand out near the low water mark. I'm assuming you know how to dig for them. From memory - and this is some time ago - there are or rather were some black lugworm available on very low tides up near Loughshinny, across the from harbour under the rocks but you need a spring tide almost. I think it was Loughshinny, but it could have been around Donabate - long time ago...

I would also have a look at the Portmarnock golf course links side of Baldoyle estuary as this is the sandy side. The other side (beside the DART) is muddy and used to hold massive kind ragworm. Anyone know if they are still there or did the sewage pipelines destroy them all?

Black lugworm, being such a prized bait, people would be loathe to publish locations so publically, but if you registered and contributed perhaps other anglers would send you information on a private message (PM). Just a thought, not trying to pressurise you or anything

Thanks
