THE highest tides in Ireland for 20 years are on their way - with the potential to bring devastating floods to low lying coastal areas including Dublin, Cork, Galway and the south east.

But homeowners in vulnerable areas will have only three days' notice that their homes are under threat from the record Spring tides and a once every two decade occurence that will bring the highest tides since the late Eighties.

I saw this and said 'fishing'

Ill be on a wonderful exciting cultural holiday in Santa Ponsa myself, hopefully enjoying lots of sight seeing (ladies), sampling local delicacies, (San Miguel), scenic walks (along the beach with the wraparound sunglasses), joining in the local entertainment (singing loudly at 4 in the morning), meeting new people (more ladies), avoiding indigenous parasites (them fellas selling watches and sunglasses), passing on some irish culture (teaching drunken english girls the words to pogue songs) and finally topping up my tan (coming home beetroot red after the quick kip by the pool turned into an 8 hour coma). :D

Enjoy those huge tides, I live in Cork so that could have been interesting if theres a load of heavy rain beforehand.

Have to laugh. Was in Calpe, Spain couple of years ago when the father-in-law gave one selling CDs the put down "Have you not got any Neil Diamond"?

Two days later "Mr Alan, I've got you Neil Diamond". He didn't have the heart to refuse. :D

as I am in England that weekend, I'm thinking of going to the Bristol Channel where the tidal shift is going to be over 14m. Hopefuly that will stir things up a bit & bring in the fish.
